Potential projects may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\nCollections analysis & assessment for specific subject areas<\/li>\n\n\n\nAssessment of collections for weeding and\/or storage<\/li>\n\n\n\nCreating and updating subject web pages for LibGuide<\/li>\n\n\n\nIdentifying free internet resources in specified subject areas<\/li>\n\n\n\nAssisting with digital services projects that help create or disseminate knowledge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nLibrary\/Collection Description<\/h2>\n\n\n\nHawai\u02bbi Pacific University Libraries support a diverse student population from all over the U.S. and over 70 countries. We serve a variety of academic programs from the associate to doctoral level. HPU Libraries currently consists of two library collections and a Learning Commons space, holding approximately 90,000 volumes. We also strive to maintain an online presence to support our online\/hybrid courses and HPU\u2019s Military Campus Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nRequired Qualifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\nSuccessful completion of the following courses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\nLIS 601 Introduction to Reference & Information Services<\/li>\n\n\n\nLIS 615 Collection Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nDesired Qualifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\nSome background or significant interest in management of collections, digitization or archival preservation is desired, though not essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nWeekly Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\nThe schedule will be determined jointly by the intern and HPU librarian(s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nGoals and Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\nThe main goal is to provide experience in a variety of collection development tasks. Specific goals will be determined by the student\u2019s area of expertise and interest, as well as department projects and needs at the time of the internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\nEvaluation Methods<\/h2>\n\n\n\nInterns will be evaluated using the LIS intern form in the following areas: willingness to learn, reliability, ability to complete tasks and assignments in an efficient and timely manner, ability to communicate effectively, ability to conduct self in a poised and professional manner.
