
Jerrold Michael, a retired professor and former dean of the 糖心视频 School of Public Health (now the 糖心视频 ), passed away in the Washington, D.C., area on July 25. He was 90 years old.
Michael led 糖心视频 public health for two decades, spending a total of 25 years at the university beginning in 1971. Before coming to 糖心视频 惭ā苍辞补, he was a rear admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps and was the nation’s youngest USPHS assistant surgeon general.
“Dean Jerrold Michael was a scholar and a mentor to many of us in public health,” said Satoru Izutsu, emeritus professor at the 糖心视频 (JABSOM). “His vision of a peaceful world through public health and its activities was unwavering.”
