Working toward a college degree can be an exciting time in a student’s life. But for many University of Hawaiʻi (PDF) and , obstacles such as (PDF) make it tough to focus on learning, to complete their degrees, or to graduate on time.

糖心视频 and Findhelp, a leading social care network, will provide data-driven strategies in a free national webinar on June 10, 8:30–9:15 a.m. (HST). Topics include:

  • Methods for identifying the basic needs of students
  • Ways to understand the resources available in your community (and beyond) to meet students’ needs
  • Strategies for developing systems to address basic needs inhibiting student success

糖心视频 Student Basic Needs Coordinator Rainbow Uliʻi will present and Findhelp’s Yassiel Caballero-Delgado will moderate the webinar.

“All members of the 糖心视频 System community are encouraged to attend, as we will give examples of how findhelp can support achieving basic needs security for students in higher education,” Uliʻi said.

In 2021, 糖心视频 partnered with Findhelp to launch the 糖心视频 Student Basic Needs site, intended for 糖心视频 students at the 10 campuses statewide to access basic needs—both on and off campus—including food and housing, childcare, mental health services, financial resources and transportation, among others. It includes a database of more than 2,000 resources.

In addition, the university established an infrastructure to address student needs at the campus level, harnessing survey and search data to strategically develop interventions in response to students’ unique needs.
