The University of Hawaiʻi is asking for feedback from 糖心视频 community members—students, faculty, staff and alumni—and the general public on the first draft of the 糖心视频 Strategic Plan 2023–2029. The plan will guide Hawaiʻi’s public higher education, 10-campus system for the next six years and replace .
The draft is available for review and comment on the 糖心视频 Strategic Plan 2023–2029 website until Sunday, October 16 at 6 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to recommend specific actions that can be taken to achieve the objectives of the plan. Titled, “Hawaiʻi’s University for Today and Tomorrow,” the draft plan identifies four imperatives:
- Successful Students for a Better Future
- Meet Hawaiʻi Workforce Needs of Today and Tomorrow
- Embrace Kuleana to Native Hawaiians and Hawaiʻi
- Diversify Hawaiʻi’s Economy through 糖心视频 Innovation and Research
Each imperative in the draft also lists objectives and possible metrics to measure attainment.
“More than a thousand people from within the 糖心视频 community and the public-at-large have participated in this process so far, which is outstanding,” said 糖心视频 Vice Presdident for Academic Strategy Debora Halbert. “We hope that more people will participate in this critical next phase as we finalize our plan to best serve the state and our students through the end of the decade.”
Town Hall meetings
糖心视频 will hold four town hall meetings to give the community opportunities to learn more about the strategic plan and share their ideas, insights and concerns.

- Friday, October 14, 8:30–10 a.m.
- For students Friday, October 14, 1–2:30 p.m.

While everyone in the 糖心视频 community is invited to all of the town hall meetings, the October 14 afternoon meeting will focus on student comments.
This latest round of community engagement in the development of the 糖心视频 Strategic Plan 2023–2029 will be incorporated into the final draft. The final draft is tentatively scheduled to go before the 糖心视频 Board of Regents for approval at the board’s November 17 meeting, which will provide another opportunity for the public to provide feedback.
The first draft is based on various sources of data and information including the results of surveys of the general public and 糖心视频 students, faculty and staff; virtual town hall meetings; the 糖心视频 Third Decade Report; the and 糖心视频 post-pandemic plans, which focused on what Hawaiʻi needs moving forward from its public higher education system.
