Kauaʻi Community College will remain closed through Friday, September 11, due to damage and other impacts from Hurricane Lowell. In-person and online classes were canceled for the remainder of the week, and employees were told not to report to campus unless specifically directed to do so.
Campus officials are assessing damage and determining what work is needed before the campus can safely reopen. Students and employees are asked to stay away from campus while damage assessments and recovery work continue.
In a message to the campus sent on September 8, Chancellor Margaret Sanchez said, “We understand that students and faculty will have questions about missed class time, assignments, deadlines and other academic matters. We will work together to determine how those issues will be addressed once conditions stabilize and will provide additional guidance as soon as possible.”
