Computer science students tackle real-world challenges through industry partnerships

Students collaborated with government and private industry to tackle practical local challenges using AI, blockchain, cybersecurity and more.

The $322,000 grant will fund two state projects to improve early identification of major plant diseases before they gain a foothold in Hawaiʻi.

The program is expected to continue in future semesters with an emphasis on expanding student participation and strengthening connections.

This work could lay the foundation for screening tools and targeted intervention programs designed to improve outcomes for children.

The spring program ran every Saturday from January through April and offered both in-person classes at 糖心视频 and online through Zoom.

The forum featured technical talks, policy discussions and workshops aimed at expanding regional cybersecurity capacity.

The conference is widely recognized as the leading international venue for software engineering research.

The 2026 U.S. News and World Report’s Best Graduate Schools rankings were released on April 6.

The club was formed in September 2022, and the team also took first place for “highest team average” in 2024 and 2025.

Funding will support graduate and undergraduate student researchers, as well as equipment, computing resources and experimental testing.
