Lee Buenconsejo-Lum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Lee Buenconsejo-Lum<\/strong> has been named acting dean of the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at M\u0101noa John A. Burns School of Medicine<\/a> (JABSOM<\/abbr>), effective January 1 to February 28, 2023, and as interim dean effective March 1 to December 31, 2023. JABSOM<\/abbr> Dean Jerris Hedge<\/strong>s will retire in March 2023 after serving for 15 years.<\/p>\n

“Dr. Buenconsejo-Lum is well versed with JABSOM<\/abbr>\u2019s operations, and I am confident that she will successfully guide JABSOM<\/abbr> during this period of transition until a permanent dean can be hired,” said 糖心视频<\/abbr> M\u0101noa Provost Michael Bruno<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Buenconsejo-Lum is JABSOM<\/abbr>\u2019s associate dean for academic affairs, designated institutional official and graduate medical education director.<\/p>\n

Since joining the 糖心视频<\/abbr> medical school as clinical teaching assistant in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health in 1994, Buenconsejo-Lum has been a teacher, leader, care provider and researcher who played an integral role in the medical school\u2019s ascension in the U.S.<\/abbr> News and World Report<\/em> rankings.<\/p>\n

For the last six years, Buenconsejo-Lum has been a member of the dean\u2019s executive management team and is involved in all major strategic initiatives, with budget and policy issues, not only within the medical school and 糖心视频<\/abbr> M\u0101noa, but also in partnership with the state\u2019s health systems, and Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense partners.<\/p>\n

To further prepare her for this role, Buenconsejo-Lum has been selected to the Association of American Medical College\u2019s Council of Deans (COD<\/abbr>) Fellowship Program. Of 28 national applicants, she was one of six chosen for the highly selective COD program, colloquially known as “the dean\u2019s school,” which develops future leaders in academic medicine.<\/p>\n

Buenconsejo-Lum\u2019s appointment will be included on the agenda for the November 17 Board Of Regents meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
