The gathering on August 14 fronting <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Hall was in response to a call from a group of kumu hula on Maui to support the health, life and restoration of those impacted by the fires. Community member Nawahine Lanzilotti partnered with the <a href=\"http:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/nhpol\/\">Native Hawaiian Place of Learning Advancement Office<\/a> to organize the gathering.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_181840\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-181840\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/manoa-nhpol-pule-for-maui-ty-tengan-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"person playing a bamboo instrument\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-181840\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/manoa-nhpol-pule-for-maui-ty-tengan-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/manoa-nhpol-pule-for-maui-ty-tengan-130x73.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/manoa-nhpol-pule-for-maui-ty-tengan.jpg 676w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-181840\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ty K\u0101wika Tengan, ethnic studies and anthropology professor at <abbr>糖心视频<\/abbr> M\u0101noa, plays the <span aria-label=\"puohe\">p\u016b&#699;ohe<\/span>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&ldquo;We wanted to hold space to answer up the k\u0101hea (the call) from the kumu on Maui to have our thoughts there and our intentions come together,&rdquo; said Lanzilotti, who is the founder\/<abbr title=\"chief executive officer\">CEO<\/abbr> of Pulse Oceania. &ldquo;It was really amazing to come here and see such a huge group of people come out to share this space.
