The <a href=\"https:\/\/olliuhm.augusoft.net\/\">Osher Lifelong Learning Institute<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/manoa.hawaii.edu\/\">University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> at M&#257;noa<\/a> (<abbr>OLLI<\/abbr>&#8211;<abbr>糖心视频M<\/abbr>) has announced more than 70 non-credit courses this fall with three new locations for in-person classes&#8212;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kapiolani.hawaii.edu\/\"><span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Community College<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leeward.hawaii.edu\/\">Leeward Community College<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/windward.hawaii.edu\/\">Windward Community College<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><abbr>OLLI<\/abbr>&#8211;<abbr>糖心视频M<\/abbr> offers a program of non-credit, college-level courses, workshops, lectures, events and other lifelong learning activities to keep the mind sharp, enrich lives and support active social engagement.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/olli-uhm-5-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"people looking at plants\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-183446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/olli-uhm-5-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/olli-uhm-5-93x130.jpg 93w, https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/olli-uhm-5.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 214px) 100vw, 214px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Holding <abbr>OLLI<\/abbr>&#8211;<abbr>糖心视频M<\/abbr> courses at <abbr title=\"University of Hawaii\">糖心视频<\/abbr> community colleges has long been a goal of our strategic plan,&rdquo; said <abbr>OLLI<\/abbr>&#8211;<abbr>糖心视频M<\/abbr> Director Carole Mandryk. &ldquo;We have often been asked about bringing classes to the Windward and Leeward sides of <span aria-label=\"Oahu.\">O&#699;ahu.<\/span> We have added members from all over <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> and the neighbor islands via Zoom over the last three years, but we now want to grow our in-person offerings.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olliuhm.augusoft.net\/Customers\/OLLI糖心视频M\/files\/Fall%202023%20Catalog%209_7_23.pdf\">Classes for fall 2023<\/a> are of varying durations and start dates from September 18 to November 6. Classes are primarily virtual via Zoom, with about 30&#37; offered in-person at the <abbr>糖心视频<\/abbr> community college campuses, with free parking.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the new in-person offerings include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Volcanoes in the Sea: The Geology and Geography of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> (Leeward <abbr title=\"Community College\">CC<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Henry James&#8217; First Masterpiece: The Portrait of a Lady <span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">(Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> <abbr>CC<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Poetry and the Senses: Read, write and experience the world through poetry (Windward <abbr>CC<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It costs $50 for new members and allows participants to take up to three classes in the fall. Each institute is unique and operates as an independent initiative of its host institution with offerings tailored to meet its community&#8217;s needs and interests, with the common thread that all are educational membership programs providing intellectually stimulating, non-credit learning opportunities designed specifically for adults age &ldquo;50 and better.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;You don&#8217;t just sign up to take a class, you become a member of a community of intelligent, interested, interesting people, who bring their life experiences to share with one another,&rdquo; Mandryk said.<\/p>\n<p>Plans are to develop in-person courses on <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Island, Maui and <span aria-label=\"Kauai\">Kaua&#699;i<\/span>. <\/p>\n<figure
