University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Hilo women\u2019s soccer<\/a> players Teani Arakawa, Jazlynn Ellis, Phoebe Barnes, Megan Donovan, Filippa Graneld and Alyssa Padron have been recognized for their performances on the pitch this season.<\/p>\n

Teani Arakawa was voted as the PacWest Preseason Player of the Year and defended her title from the preseason poll. Arakawa was named twice as the PacWest Player of the Week, scoring seven goals in the September alone. She finished the season with 10 goals (highest in the conference), seven assists (tied for first) and 27 points (top). Three times this season she had two goals in a contest, and she had two assists earlier this season in a 3-1 win over Stanislaus State.<\/p>\n

Jazlynn Ellis is the PacWest Newcomer of the Year. The junior midfielder is a transfer who started every match for the Vulcans this season. Ellis had eight goals and five assists, including a hat trick (three goals) against Hawaii Pacific University that led her to earn the PacWest Co-Player of the Week award. In the last two matches of the season, both 2-2 draws, she had two assists against Azusa Pacific and had two goals at Chaminade. The Parker, Colorado native finished second in the PacWest with 1.40 points per match.<\/p>\n

Phoebe Barnes moved into the starting goalkeeper role this season for the Vulcans and earned the PacWest Goalkeeper of the Year award. The Sonoma State transfer garnered the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year award before she set foot on the turf for the Vulcans,. Barnes had three shutouts on the season, 41 saves and a 0.81 Goals Against Average. She was the PacWest Defender of the Week after posting a 90-minute shutout of Biola. The 5-foot-10 junior started two seasons at Sonoma State before arriving on Hawaiʻi<\/span> Island.<\/p>\n

Joining Barnes, Thrapp, Ellis and Arakawa on the All-PacWest First Team were Vulcans Megan Donovan, Filippa Graneld and Alyssa Padron.<\/p>\n
