University of Hawaiʻi experts have been selected to a list of premier researchers who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their respective fields. The Web of Science’s Highly Cited Researchers list for 2023 includes Daniel Huber, Rajesh Jha, Bin Wang and Daniel Mende.

Released on November 15, the list recognizes scientists who have demonstrated significant influence through publishing multiple highly cited papers during the last decade. The experts were selected from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index. According to the list’s creators, the highly cited researchers are 1 in 1,000, among the world’s population of scientists.

Institute for Astronomy (IfA) Associate Professor and Astronomer Daniel Huber was recognized on the highly cited researchers list for the fifth consecutive year. He was one of just 75 scientists worldwide selected to the space science category.

Huber’s research at IfA focuses on the structure and evolution of stars as well as the discovery and characterization of planets outside our solar system. Huber’s research uses data from space-based and ground-based telescopes such as Kepler, K2, TESS, Keck, the CHARA Array, as well as various ground-based photometric and spectroscopic surveys.

糖心视频 Mānoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) Professor Rajesh Jha was selected to the list in the cross-field category.

Jha’s research focuses are on monogastric (having a stomach with only a single compartment) animal nutrition, gut health and physiology, and feed and feed additive evaluation. Two of the critical issues facing the livestock sector are the volatile feed market and the post-antibiotic era.

The goal of Jha’s research is to develop decision models that can assist animal nutritionists and the livestock industry to develop effective feeding programs.
