Rainbow Warrior volleyball<\/a> setter Tread Rosenthal was named one of eight semifinalists for the AVCA<\/abbr> (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Men\u2019s Collegiate Player of the Year Award.<\/p>\n

A first-team AVCA<\/abbr> All-American last season, Rosenthal ranks second in the nation in assists per set (11.01) while leading the country\u2019s No.<\/abbr> 2-ranked offense. He also earned Big West Setter of the Week honors 10 times this season.<\/p>\n

Rosenthal is one of two players from the Big West Conference to make the list, joined by Skyler Varga of Long Beach State. UCLA<\/abbr> leads all schools with three semifinalists, while Pepperdine, Ball State and USC<\/abbr> each have one representative.<\/p>\n

Four finalists will be announced ahead of the 2026 National Collegiate Men\u2019s Volleyball Championship, with the winner revealed May 8 in Los Angeles during an awards banquet prior to the national semifinals.<\/p>\n

The Rainbow Warriors have a strong history with the award, producing five previous winners. Costas Theocharidis is the program\u2019s only two-time recipient (2001, 2003), while Yuval Katz won in 1996. More recently, Rado Parapunov<\/a> (2021) and Jakob Thelle<\/a> (2023) have also claimed the honor.<\/p>\n
