The ball brought together midshipmen, officer candidates, Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Program participants, active-duty personnel, families and supporters to commemorate the Navy’s founding on October 13, 1775.

Students organized and executed the formal military event, gaining hands-on leadership experience while honoring naval customs. The evening featured ceremonial toasts, a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action remembrance and a traditional cake-cutting ceremony.

“Planning our first Navy Birthday Ball gave us the opportunity to put our leadership skills into practice while honoring the traditions of the Navy,” said Noah Gaida, 1/C Midshipman. “From organizing the ceremony to bringing together our military community, it was a meaningful experience that we hope to build on as an annual tradition.”

“It isn’t just about learning history; it is about the active application and mastering of the art and science of leadership,” Duez said. “Tonight is a reflection on our past as we remain focused on the future that lies ahead. It is about committing to our craft so that we can lead with honor throughout our careers.”
