Burns School of Medicine<\/a> Professor <strong>Alson Inaba<\/strong> is helping the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heart.org\/HEARTORG\/\">American Heart Association<\/a> once again in its push to save lives through &ldquo;Hands-Only <abbr>CPR<\/abbr>.&rdquo; The campaign promotes awareness of <abbr>CPR<\/abbr> without mouth-to-mouth breaths.<\/p>\n<p>Inaba came up with the idea to use the Bee Gees classic, <em>Stayin&#8217; Alive<\/em> as a mathematically perfect and unforgettable way to keep rhythm with the necessary compressions needed to properly perform hands-only <abbr>CPR<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><abbr>糖心视频<\/abbr> News<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2012\/06\/06\/medical-professor-promoting-stayin-alive-cpr\/\"><em>Medical professor promoting Stayin&#8217; Alive <abbr>CPR<\/abbr><\/em>,<\/a> June 6, 2012<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hands-only <abbr>CPR<\/abbr> is recommended for people who need to aid a teen or adult who has suddenly collapsed in an out-of-hospital setting.<\/p>\n<h2>Inaba is the face of the American Heart Association campaign<\/h2>\n<p>This year, the heart association launched another Hands-Only <abbr>CPR<\/abbr> promo video using a singing group, in acapella fashion, and quoting Inaba, who works at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaiipacifichealth.org\/kapiolani\/\"><span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Medical Center<\/a>, in its news releases for National <abbr>CPR<\/abbr> Week.<\/p>\n<p>Inaba has been the national face of the <abbr>AHA<\/abbr> campaign in years past along with movie celebrities and dancers clad in white suits, a la John Travolta from the movie <em>Stayin&#8217; Alive<\/em>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.everydayhealth.com\/\">Everyday Health<\/a> called Inaba&#8217;s innovation &ldquo;The Tip from Honolulu Heard Around the World.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Anyone can learn hands-only <abbr>CPR<\/abbr> with just two easy steps,&rdquo; said Inaba. &ldquo;If you see someone suddenly collapse, first call 911 and then push hard and fast in the center of their chest to the beat of <em>Stayin&#8217; Alive<\/em> until help arrives.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8212;By Tina Shelton<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><abbr>JABSOM<\/abbr> Alson Inaba partners once again with the American Heart Association to help the public keep the beat for hands-only <abbr>CPR<\/abbr><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":16,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[26],"tags":[31,9],"class_list":["post-35064","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-community","tag-john-a-burns-school-of-medicine","tag-uh-manoa","entry","has-media"],"aioseo_notices":[],"aioseo_head":"\n\t\t<!-- All in One SEO 5.0.1 - aioseo.com -->\n\t<meta name=\"description\" content=\"John A.
