Hawaiʻi<\/span> QuarkNet<\/a> mentor Veronica Bindi<\/strong><\/a>, an assistant professor in physics<\/a> at University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Mānoa, mentored three local high school teachers selected by the national QuarkNet Project, an education and outreach program that partners high school physics teachers with particle physicists. <\/p>\n

This summer, Kaiser High School<\/a> teacher Duc Ong will participate at the Fermilab<\/a> Data Camp in Illinois, and Kamehameha Schools<\/a>’ Warren Huelsnitz and Peter Grach will take part in the CERN ISE<\/a> workshop in Greece. <\/p>\n

“I am proud that three of our high school teachers have been selected by QuarkNet,” said Bindi. “They will represent Hawaiʻi<\/span> doing research in some of the most important laboratories in the world for particle physics, such as Fermilab. These experiences are very important for their professional development and growth and their students and colleages will benefit and be inspired.”<\/p>\n
