Kapiʻolani<\/span> Community College<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Program at Kapiʻolani<\/span> Community College<\/a> has received the annual merit award for achieving a 100 percent graduate pass rate on the certified surgical technologist examination cycle. The cycle ran from August 1, 2015 through July 31, 2016. Kapiʻolani<\/span> CC<\/abbr>’s CST<\/abbr> Program is the only non-credit accredited program of its kind in the state.<\/p>\n

The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting<\/a> has a 40-year history in CST<\/abbr> examination development. The examination is a fully accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies<\/a> for surgical technologists. NBSTSA<\/abbr> stated in a news brief that “certification as a surgical technologist exhibits professional pride, the desire to be recognized for mastery of surgical competencies, and most importantly an ongoing commitment to quality patient care.”<\/p>\n

Patricia O’Hagan<\/strong>, dean of emergency medical services, health sciences and nursing at Kapiʻolani<\/span> CC<\/abbr> attributes the success of the program to Tony Choy<\/strong> of the nursing department “who has worked very hard to deliver a stellar program where the graduates become an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
