{"id":5630,"date":"2012-04-17T14:42:04","date_gmt":"2012-04-18T00:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/?p=5630"},"modified":"2021-04-19T15:19:08","modified_gmt":"2021-04-20T01:19:08","slug":"nominations-for-governors-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2012\/04\/17\/nominations-for-governors-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Nominations for Governor&#8217;s Awards being accepted"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> &lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><p>The University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> System <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/ohr\/\">Office of Human Resources<\/a> is accepting nominations to represent the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> for the 2012 Governor&#8217;s Awards in three categories: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Distinguished State Service (Employee of the Year)<\/li>\n<li>State Manager of the Year<\/li>\n<li>Team of the Year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These awards are designed to honor employees and managers who exemplify the highest caliber of public service and dedication to serving the people of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>In 2011, as the former vice chancellor for student affairs at Windward Community College, <strong>Lui Hokoana<\/strong> was honored as the State Manager of the Year for his outstanding ability as a leader and manager while working on student recruitment and community outreach, accessing grants to enable training and development for faculty and staff, developing a mentoring program and promoting academic support strategies to improve student development. Hokoana is currently the associate vice president for student affairs. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2011\/10\/15\/manager-of-the-year\/\">Read more about him.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A memo from President <strong>M.R.C.
