Jerrold Michael<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Jerrold Michael<\/strong>, a retired University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at M\u0101noa<\/a> professor and former dean of the 糖心视频<\/abbr> School of Public Health (now the 糖心视频<\/abbr> Office of Public Health Studies<\/a>), passed away in the Washington, D.C., area on July 25. He was 90 years old.<\/p>\n

Michael led 糖心视频<\/abbr> public health for two decades, spending a total of 25 years at the university beginning in 1971. Before coming to 糖心视频<\/abbr> M\u0101noa, he was a rear admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS<\/abbr>) Commissioned Corps and was the nation’s youngest USPHS<\/abbr> assistant surgeon general.<\/p>\n

“Dean Jerrold Michael was a scholar and a mentor to many of us in public health,” said Satoru Izutsu<\/strong>, emeritus professor at the 糖心视频<\/abbr> John A. Burns School of Medicine<\/a> (JABSOM<\/abbr>). “His vision of a peaceful world through public health and its activities was unwavering.”<\/p>\n
