  {"id":11362,"date":"2018-11-03T14:59:06","date_gmt":"2018-11-04T00:59:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/ohr\/?page_id=11362"},"modified":"2026-04-30T12:33:24","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T22:33:24","slug":"performance-evaluations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/ohr\/executive-managerial\/performance-evaluations\/","title":{"rendered":"EM Performance Evaluation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">EM evaluations are conducted annually to provide feedback on the achievement of goals, expectations, accomplishments, and overall performance.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Per <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/ohr\/documents\/14715\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">President Wendy Hensel&rsquo;s April 21, 2026 memo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the following evaluation process applies to the EM <span  aria-label=\"Performance Evaluation: An annual review of an employee's performance in their position.\"  data-cmtooltip=\"An annual review of an employee&#039;s performance in their position.\" class=\"glossaryLink \">Performance Evaluation<\/span> period of<\/span><b> April 1, 2025 through March 31, 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. For this evaluation cycle, supervisors may complete evaluations for their subordinate EM employees using <\/span><b>one of two approaches<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Option 1:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Use Existing Performance Criteria<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Option 2:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Use Alternative Performance Criteria<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regardless of the option selected, <\/span><b>all EM employees must receive a final rating and be entered into Trakstar (PerformTrak) by July 31, 2026.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><b>Option 1: Use Existing Performance Criteria in Trakstar (PerformTrak)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>May 16, 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &ndash; <\/span><b>June 12, 2026 &ndash; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EM employees may enter their self-evaluation into <a href=\"https:\/\/perform.trakstar.com\/auth\/saml?namespace=university_of_hawaii\">Trakstar<\/a>. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/ohr\/executive-managerial\/performance-evaluations\/em-employee-guide-self-evaluation-in-trakstar\/?highlight=e%2Fm\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instructions<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>June 12, 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &ndash; Deadline to complete self-evaluation in Trakstar.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>June 13, 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &ndash; EM supervisors may enter their employee evaluations in Trakstar.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EM employees may be evaluated using <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1Kzp44_62S-PNsQ6g_A69w5iAZvTHdkwBbo7XCbV1pEo\/edit#\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">established performance criteria<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By <\/span><b>July 31, 2026, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">assign a final rating and enter into Trakstar.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meets<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exceeds<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exceptional<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Does Not Meet<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr>\n<h2><b>Option 2: Use Alternative Performance Criteria in Trakstar<\/b><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contact the <\/span><b>ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ System Office of Human Resources<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"mailto:jefferyl@hawaii.edu\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">jefferyl@hawaii.edu<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) no later than <\/span><b>May 15, 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to ensure Trakstar is appropriately set up to support your evaluation process.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A final performance rating will be entered into Trakstar by <\/span><b>July 31, 2026<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meets<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exceeds<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exceptional<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Does Not Meet<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr>\n<h2><b>Eligibility for Evaluation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">E\/M employees hired on or before October 1 of the evaluation year must participate in the evaluation process if they have been in their position for at least six months by the end of the evaluation period.
