The Unviersity of Hawaii is now a participant under the . This agreement is specifically tailored for research and education institutions, providing several key advantages over a standard commercial AWS contract.

  • HIPAA & Sensitive Workloads: It provides flexible options for a Business Associate Agreement (BAA), which means you can run HIPAA-compliant workloads on AWS under this contract. It also includes access to AWS GovCloud for highly sensitive data.
  • Cost Savings & Discounts: All subscribers receive a common minimum discount on AWS services, regardless of the university's total cloud spend.
  • Data Egress Fee Waiver: This is a massive benefit for research data. The program refunds data egress charges up to 15% of an account's monthly spend for eligible accounts, making it much cheaper to move large datasets out of the cloud.
  • Billing: It offers direct billing to individual account holders, along with various payment options (including credits).
  • High-Speed Connectivity: It leverages 800+ Gb/s of private peering capacity to the Internet2 Network, ensuring high-throughput and consistent network performance.
  • Community & Support: Subscribers join the Cloud Infrastructure Community Program (CICP), which provides access to discounted training, no-cost consulting with Internet2 cloud experts, and a community of practice with other universities.
