2026 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Symposium

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) in the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Scholarship at 糖心视频 惭腻苍辞补 cordially invites you to attend the 2026 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Symposium, to be held on Friday, July 31 at the Hawai'i Imin International Conference Center.

The SURE Symposium is a multidisciplinary academic conference featuring oral and poster presentations by students who conducted research or creative work at 糖心视频 惭腻苍辞补 during the summer. Over 100 students will be presenting their projects, including

  • Allyson Ijima and Ma鈥榠li Mckeague, who combined environmental assessments with community engagement to identify opportunities for revitalization and safer neighborhood design through a partnership with Kokua Kalihi Valley;
  • Sung Soo Lee, who contributed to an engineering framework for robotics-assisted needle implantation in cancer treatment;
  • Sofia Oumoussa, who traveled to the Rif region of northern Morocco where she conducted field research into how water-management traditions are encoded in local oral history;
  • Bryson Rimas, who evaluated the alignment between breadfruit supply across Hawai鈥榠 and cultivation projections based on soil analysis.

Students, faculty, staff, and members of the broader community are encouraged to come hear about our students' work and learning, offer feedback, and enjoy a free lunch. Please note that attendees may also opt to join the oral presentations ONLY remotely over Zoom, as these will be delivered in a hybrid format. Poster presentations will be delivered in person only.
