Responsible Conduct of Research: Importance and Case Studies

Students working on mentored research or creative work have some important questions to think about:

  • Who on your team gets to claim an authorship credit on any publication resulting from your work? Who gets listed as the FIRST author? And how does your team build consensus about these subjects?
  • Is it possible to be engaged in research misconduct without knowing it? What checks do you have in place to ensure you're working responsibly?
  • Who sets the policies about all of this stuff anyway?
This workshop, about the responsible conduct of research, will be diving deep into these questions. Attendees will gain the knowledge and language to navigate some of the murkier corners of the research world. Join your peers to watch some videos and chat about these topics, and to learn what kinds of resources are available to help you complete your projects in a manner that serves the best interests of everyone involved.
