The Rainbow Warriors (1–2) bolted out to a 16–0 lead in the first half before the Aggies (1–2) rallied to catch them at 19–19 early in the third quarter. 糖心视频 Mānoa reclaimed the lead with a field goal and extended the advantage with a bit of trickery in the fourth quarter. The Rainbow Warrior defense then sealed the win with its third takeaway of the night.

Uiliata set career highs with 10 receptions for 107 yards and threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Frank Abreu to extend the lead in the fourth quarter. Harris also set a career high with 105 yards on four catches, the bulk coming on a 55-yard reception in the first quarter. Carvalho caught nine passes covering 82 yards for another career-best performance.

Running back DeVon Rice rushed for 糖心视频鈥檚 first two touchdowns and finished with 59 yards. Kicker Sean Olvera-Harle converted on all three of his field goal attempts.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa senior defensive back and team captain Elijah Palmer has been named to the watch list for the 10th annual Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award.

Palmer is one of 89 student-athletes nationwide selected to the watch list for college football’s premier leadership honor. The Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year is the first college football honor to focus primarily on a player’s leadership on and off the field.

As one of four team captains, Palmer has emerged as the undisputed vocal leader and general of the 2026 Rainbow Warriors. A two-time All-Mountain West honorable mention selection at defensive back, Palmer is widely recognized for his work ethic, accountability, and deep commitment to bringing out the best in his teammates while serving as a key ambassador for the football program in the community.

Semifinalists for the award will be selected on October 13. Three finalists will be named on December 14, with the overall winner revealed at the official award ceremony in the spring of 2027.

The award winner will receive a $10,000 contribution in his name to his school’s athletic scholarship fund, donated by Jason Witten’s SCORE Foundation.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa women鈥檚 soccer defender Panaʻewa Cayetano has been named Mountain West Freshman of the Week. Cayetano’s selection marks the second weekly freshman accolade for the Rainbow Wahine in their inaugural Mountain West season, following teammate Olivia Dianda.

Cayetano earned the weekly honor after anchoring a defensive performance on the backline. Playing center back, she logged 161 total minutes across two matches over the weekend. She served as the center piece for Hawaiʻi鈥檚 defense in matches against New Mexico State and Washington State.

Cayetano played all 90 minutes on September 3, helping to secure a 3–0 victory over New Mexico State, holding the Aggies to zero shots on target and only five shot attempts the entire evening. On September 6, she played 71 minutes in a physical 0–0 draw against Washington State, helping to limit the Cougars offense to seven total shots and a single shot on target.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa outside hitter Panna Ratkai was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week on September 7.

Ratkai led the Rainbow Wahine with 52 kills and five aces to help power 糖心视频 M膩noa to a 3-0 run in the OUTRIGGER Invitational, September 3–6. The senior hit .284 while averaging a team-high 4.00 kills and 4.65 points per set over the weekend and was voted the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Ratkai put away a season-high 21 kills in 54 attempts and hit .296 in a five-set win over Loyola Marymount (LMU) on September 4. After LMU forced a fifth set, Ratkai scored six of 糖心视频‘s first eight points, including back-to-back aces. She also finished with 10 digs for her second double-double of the season.

Ratkai opened the tournament with 12 kills in a sweep of Utah Tech on September 3, and closed the tournament with 19 kills on 50 attempts and two aces in another five-set win over UC San Diego on September 6.

University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo鈥檚 men鈥檚 soccer junior Keita Goto was named the Pacific West Conference Defender of the Week for September 1—7, after helping lead the Vulcans to a perfect 3—0 start to the season.

Goto has played a key role in the Vulcans’ three defensive wins and scored the only goal in the September 2 victory over UT Dallas on a penalty kick.

The Waterhouse Charitable Trust is being recognized for its longstanding commitment to University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa student-athletes as one of 10 founding members of the new Shoji Society, a leadership giving society established to strengthen the future of . The Shoji Society serves as the major giving component of the newly launched , which provides opportunities for supporters at all giving levels to invest in 糖心视频 Athletics.

The Waterhouse Charitable Trust鈥檚 connection to 糖心视频 Athletics dates back decades to Alexander C. “Alec” Waterhouse, a lifelong supporter of the Rainbow Warriors and one of the foundational figures in 糖心视频 Athletics fundraising. Waterhouse was a founder and chairman of the N膩 Koa Football Booster Club and an original member of the ʻAhahui Koa Ānuenue Board of Directors. He was inducted into the 糖心视频 Circle of Honor in 1997.

Waterhouse was particularly committed to improving the experience of 糖心视频 student-athletes. He worked with then-football coach Bob Wagner to develop the vision for a dedicated strength and conditioning facility, and in 1998, he contributed $300,000 to help establish the training facility that now bears his name. Waterhouse鈥檚 support extended across 糖心视频 teams, coaches and staff, reflecting his belief in the importance of providing student-athletes with the resources to succeed. He remained a passionate supporter of 糖心视频 Athletics until his passing in March 1999.

“Long before today鈥檚 college athletics landscape, Alec Waterhouse understood that investing in student-athletes was an investment in the future of Hawaiʻi,” 糖心视频 Mānoa Athletics Director Matt Elliott said. “The Waterhouse Charitable Trust has carried that vision forward for generations. Investing in 糖心视频鈥檚 future

Waterhouse鈥檚 support helped shape the experience of generations of 糖心视频 student-athletes. His substantial contributions helped make possible the purchase of weight room equipment for the 糖心视频 Physiology Research and Training Facility, which was named in his honor.

That legacy continues today through the Alexander Waterhouse Sports Performance Facility, which underwent a $3.3 million renovation in 2023–24. The 10,000-square-foot facility now features new strength and conditioning equipment and a nutrition center serving approximately 500 student-athletes across 21 sports.

The Waterhouse Charitable Trust also has provided significant direct support for student-athletes. In 2015, the Nā Koa Football Club received a multiyear gift of more than $1 million annually from the trust, one of the largest gifts in the athletics department鈥檚 history. The gift supports football student-athletes through summer school tuition, cost-of-attendance stipends, nutritional enhancements, strength and conditioning equipment and other program needs.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa cross country runner Atarah Robinson was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week following a standout collegiate debut at the Big Wave Invitational.

Robinson finished third in her first collegiate cross country meet, completing the 5,000-meter course at Kahuku Golf Course in 18 minutes, 54.40 seconds.

The Florida native was one of three Rainbow Wahine runners to finish in under 19 minutes, joining Mikaella Martin and Emily Castles. 糖心视频 M膩noa swept the top six individual spots and recorded a perfect team score of 15 to capture its sixth consecutive Big Wave Invitational title.

Honolulu native Ikaika Aki has been named the fifth head coach of the University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa women鈥檚 water polo program, 糖心视频 Athletics Director Matt Elliott announced.

Aki returns home after four years as head coach at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), where he earned Golden Coast Conference Coach of the Year honors in each of the last two seasons. He led LMU to back-to-back conference championships and consecutive appearances in the National Collegiate Women鈥檚 Water Polo Championship in 2025 and 2026.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ikaika back home to Hawaiʻi,” Elliott said. “His proven track record of building a championship-caliber program at LMU, combined with his deep roots in our local community, makes him the perfect leader for the Rainbow Wahine as we look to build upon our legacy of success.”

Over his final three seasons at LMU, Aki led the Lions to a 70-20 overall record and a perfect 20-0 mark in conference regular-season play. Twelve LMU players also earned national recognition during his tenure.

The University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa Athletics Department is proposing an increase to the mandatory student athletics fee to expand benefits and experiences for students and support the long-term financial sustainability of its Division I programs.

The proposal would increase the fee from $50 to $125 per semester beginning in fall 2027. The fee has remained unchanged since it was established in 2011. The increase is expected to generate approximately $2.49 million in additional annual revenue, bringing total student fee support for athletics to about $4.15 million.

“The student athletics fee has not increased since it was established in 2011, while the costs of operating a Division I athletics program have grown significantly,” 糖心视频 M膩noa Athletics Director Matt Elliott said. “This additional support would help us address rising costs in areas such as recruiting, team travel, nutrition, medical care, academic support and facilities while providing the stable funding we need to remain competitive.”

糖心视频 M膩noa currently generates about $1.66 million annually from the fee, substantially less than athletics programs at peer institutions. Even with the proposed increase, estimated fee revenue per enrolled student would remain below the Mountain West Conference average.

Students receive complimentary admission to regular-season home athletics events. During the 2025–26 season, 5,928 individual students attended at least one athletics contest, with 20,596 total student admissions recorded across six sports.

“Athletics is a valuable part of the student experience at 糖心视频 M膩noa, and we will ensure that the proposed increase directly benefits all students,” Elliott said. “The additional funding would allow us to significantly expand H Rewards for the general student body and invest more in the game-day experiences, entertainment, activities and opportunities that bring students together and build a stronger sense of connection to the campus.”

Athletics leaders and students met with the Associated Students of 糖心视频 M膩noa (AS糖心视频) and the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) in August. AS糖心视频 members raised questions about the justification for the increase and student outreach, while GSO representatives at the meeting opposed the proposal on affordability grounds and questioned the benefit to graduate students.

糖心视频 M膩noa is also seeking feedback from the broader student body through an anonymous survey emailed to registered students on August 19. The survey, administered by the M膩noa Institutional Research Office, is open through September 4, and the aggregated results will be presented to university leadership and the Board of Regents as part of the review process.

The proposed increase requires approval by the 糖心视频 Board of Regents and, if approved, would take effect in the 2027–28 academic year.

University of Hawaiʻi football fans will have a new way to get ready for game day with the debut of Rooftop Pāʻina, a pregame experience located steps away from the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex.

Replacing Pāʻina on the Path, the new gathering space is located on the fifth floor of the Zone 20 parking structure and offers views of the stadium, Diamond Head and M膩noa valley. Rooftop Pāʻina opens three hours before kickoff and closes 30 minutes before the game. Admission is free, although a parking pass is required to park in the structure.

The new location was developed in response to fan surveys that identified pregame festivities as an area for improving the Rainbow Warrior football game-day experience.

Fans can enjoy live entertainment from the Hawaiʻi鈥檚 Finest concert series, local vendors and a beer garden with televisions showing college football games. A private VIP experience is also available.

The Rainbow Warriors will also be dropped off on Dole Street and walk through Rooftop Pāʻina on their way to the stadium, giving fans an opportunity to cheer on the team approximately two and a half hours before kickoff.

“Our ultimate goal is to make the atmosphere on campus as fun and as memorable as possible for Rainbow Warrior football,” said Eric Mathews, director of marketing and fan experience. “By moving everything to the fifth floor of the parking structure, we have the chance to create more buzz and excitement right next to the stadium.”

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa women鈥檚 soccer freshman forward Olivia Dianda has been named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week. Dianda鈥檚 first career weekly honor comes after a sensational weekend in which she scored her first two collegiate goals to spark the Rainbow Wahine offense during the OUTRIGGER Invitational.

The true freshman made an immediate impact during the tournament’s opening match on August 20 against Western Michigan. Dianda broke through in the second half of the match to score her first collegiate goal, tracking down a pass and clinically finding the bottom-left corner. In that contest, she earned the start on the front line and logged 48 minutes on the pitch, scoring on one of her three shot attempts.

The weekly accolade marks a historic milestone as Dianda becomes the first Rainbow Wahine player to earn a Mountain West weekly award since the program officially joined the conference.

The Rainbow Wahine return to action at the 糖心视频 Lower Campus Field on August 29, hosting Hawaiʻi Pacific University at 4 p.m.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa quarterback Micah Alejado has been named to the preseason watch list for the Manning Award, presented by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Alejado is one of 40 of the nation’s top signal-callers named to the list. He is now on the watch list for six awards including the Maxwell, Walter Camp, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm, Davey O’Brien and Polynesian College Football Player of the Year watch lists.

The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl to honor the legendary college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.

The Manning Award Midseason Watch List will be released on November 5. The winner of the 2026 Manning Award will be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship on January 27.

The University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa football team placed five members on the 2026 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award Watch List, announced by the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame.

Warriors on this year’s watch list are sophomore quarterback Micah Alejado, senior wide receiver Pofele Ashlock, junior safety Kona Moore, senior safety Matagi Thompson and sophomore wide receiver Tama Uiliata.

The award is presented annually to the most outstanding college football player of Polynesian ancestry who epitomizes exceptional ability and integrity. This year’s watch list features 69 players from 36 different NCAA Division I programs.

This year’s selection marks the third consecutive watch list appearance for Ashlock. Alejado, Moore, Thompson and Uiliata are making their debuts on the national list.

Five finalists for the award will be announced on December 8, with the winner announced on December 15. The winner will be formally recognized during the Polynesian Bowl on January 15, and presented with the trophy at the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Celebration Dinner on January 16.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa quarterback Micah Alejado has been named to the preseason watch list for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award.

The Davey O’Brien Foundation, celebrating its 50th anniversary season, unveiled its list featuring 30 of the nation’s top returning collegiate quarterbacks. Alejado is one of only six sophomores in the country to receive the honor. The selection committee compiled this year’s watch list based on previous Division I career player performance and high expectations heading into the 2026 college football campaign.

Over the course of the last month, Alejado has been placed on the the watch lists for some of the nation’s most prestigious awards including: the Maxwell Award, the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Watch and finally the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award.

Semifinalists will be named on November 17, and the three finalists will be revealed on November 24. The winner of the 2026 Davey O’Brien Award will be announced live on ESPN on December 11. The formal presentation will take place during the 50th Annual Davey O’Brien Awards Dinner on March 8, 2027 in Fort Worth, Texas.

University of Hawaiʻi at M膩noa outside hitter Cha’lei Reid was named to the 2026 Mountain West Women鈥檚 Volleyball Preseason Team as the Rainbow Wahine prepare for their first season in the conference.

Reid was one of seven players selected by Mountain West coaches. The sophomore led 糖心视频 with 335 kills and 3.35 kills per set last season, becoming the fourth freshman in program history and first since 2019 to lead the team in kills.

She also recorded 44 service aces, 糖心视频鈥檚 highest single-season total since 2019, and earned Big West All-Freshman Team and All-Big West honorable mention recognition.

The Rainbow Wahine were picked fifth in the Mountain West preseason poll. 糖心视频 opens its first season under Head Coach Joshua Walker on August 28 against Georgia Southern in the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
