After nine years leading the University of Hawaiʻi women鈥檚 volleyball program, Robyn Ah Mow has announced her decision to step down from her position as Rainbow Wahine head coach.

“This wasn’t an easy call to make. I鈥檝e done a lot of soul searching, and right now the time has come to focus on my family. They鈥檝e sacrificed so much to allow me to live out my dream of leading this program, and it鈥檚 time I put them first,” Ah Mow said.

“I gave this team everything I had. My goal was always to push these players to be the best they could be, but more importantly, to make sure they leave here as strong, successful women. Wearing the ‘H’ was a privilege when I played, and coaching this program has been a true honor.”

Associate Head Coach Kaleo Baxter will serve as interim head coach. A national search for a permanent head coach for the women’s volleyball program will begin immediately.

Ah Mow concludes her coaching tenure with a 165-72 (.696) overall record and a 114-28 (.803) mark in the Big West. Succeeding legendary coach Dave Shoji in 2017, Ah Mow鈥檚 teams won three consecutive Big West regular-season championships (2019, 2021, 2022) followed by back-to-back Big West Championship titles (2023, 2024). Ah Mow led the 鈥橞ows to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching the NCAA Regional Semifinals in 2019. She was named Big West Coach of the Year three times (2019, 2021 and 2022) and earned AVCA Pacific North Region Coach of the Year honors in 2019.

“Robyn Ah Mow is the epitome of what it means to be a Rainbow Wahine,” 糖心视频 Athletics Director Matt Elliott said. “She is a fierce competitor, a dedicated mentor, and an undeniable legend in the state of Hawaiʻi and the global volleyball community. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and passion she poured into this program over the last nine years as the leader of Wahine Volleyball, and more than 30 years since she first stepped on campus. We will all miss her dearly as our head coach, and wish her the absolute best in her next chapter.”

Record-breaking kicker Kansei Matsuzawa, affectionately known as “The Tokyo Toe,” signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Las Vegas Raiders on April 25.

During his time at 糖心视频, Matsuzawa rewrote the program’s record books. In his stellar 2025 senior season, he made 27 of 29 field goals, setting a new single-season school record and finishing second in the nation in made field goals. He tied a 43-year-old FBS record by making 25 consecutive field goals to start the season.

Overall, Matsuzawa connected on 26 consecutive field goals stretching from the end of 2024 through November 2025, which matched the Mountain West Conference record and shattered the previous 糖心视频 school record of 20 set by Jason Elam in 1989. He leaves 糖心视频 as the most accurate kicker in program history, boasting a career field goal percentage of .867 (39-of-45).

His on-field dominance earned him unprecedented recognition. Matsuzawa became the first consensus All-American in 糖心视频 program history. He was named the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Year, a finalist for the Lou Groza Award (joining only Jason Elam in 糖心视频 history), and a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy, which honors the nation’s top player who began their career as a walk-on.

Matsuzawa’s signing marks the culmination of one of the most incredible stories in college football. A native of the Tokyo area and a former high school soccer player, Matsuzawa did not begin kicking until age 20 after attending an NFL game during a trip to the U.S. Driven to pursue the sport, he taught himself the mechanics of kicking by watching YouTube videos, eventually earning an opportunity at Hocking College in Ohio before joining 糖心视频 as a walk-on prior to the 2023 season.
