We invite you to join us on October 1, 2026 for a talk given by Center for Korean Studies Community Associate member Dr. Karl Moskowitz. Dr. Moskowitz will be discussing “The Career Trajectories of Korean Employees at Japanese Banks in Colonial Korea,” sharing his original research as well as introducing the Personnel Records of the Chosen Shokusan Ginko. About the Speaker: Karl Moskowitz received his BA in East Asian Languages from Indiana University and an MA in Regional Studies – East Asia and PhD in History and East Asian Languages from Harvard University. As Assistant Professor of Modern Korean History at Harvard, Karl taught courses on modern Korean history and economic development from 1978-85. He led the establishment of the Korea Institute at Harvard in 1981 and served as its first Executive Director. He was also active in the Association for Asian Studies, serving on the Subcommittee for Korea from 1980-84 (Chairman, 1981-82) and as the Korea Editor for The Journal of Asian Studies (1980-82). Dr. Moskowitz became a Community Associate of the Center for Korean Studies in 1999.
