Moderator: Dr. Ricardo D. Trimillos Ph.D., Emeritus Professor, ������ƵM Ethnomusicology Speakers: Dr. Yuan-Hsin Tung Ph.D., ������ƵM Ethnomusicology “Wayang potehi and its struggles in the multicultural society of Indonesia” Dr. Ben Fairfield Ph.D., ������ƵM Ethnomusicology “Thai Traditional music instruments and its influence on music pedagogy in Hawaii” This panel focuses on the rich diversity of music and theatrical traditions in Southeast Asia and Southeast Asia in western pedagogy. Traditional arts, such as puppetry and music, are diverse and linked to cultural identity in Southeast Asia and have adapted through migration. Scholars on this panel will discuss the current status of the tradition they research and trends of the theatrical and musical forms in Southeast Asia and beyond.
