Copyright and Intellectual Property as AI Invades

October 29, 12:00pm - 1:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Kuykendall 106 Events Room

This session will give context to AI use at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ campuses, focusing on content creation and ownership issues that instructors and students should be aware of. “AIâ€ tools are diverse and operate as black boxes, with little clarity around how decisions are made and how content is actually reused. As the university leans into AI, embedding machine learning and large language models into nearly every technology platform we use, what copyright and intellectual implications are emerging? What happens to student work that is uploaded to AI-detection platforms? How can faculty and staff work alongside students to navigate the shifting landscape and proliferation of opaque technologies labeled as AI?
