International Night celebrates University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s cultural diversity through performances and interactive culture booths. Organized annually since 1999 by the International Student Association (ISA), a 糖心视频M Registered Independent Organization, the event showcases students, faculty and community members.
This year highlights cultures from Bhutan, China, Nepal, the Philippines, Russia, Spain, Tahiti, Thailand, Tonga, Vietnam, and the United States. The university currently serves as the “home away from home” for nearly 1,000 students from 75 countries.
ISA members, who are themselves a mix of international and domestic students, completely staff the event. This requires months of preparation. Linda Duckworth, Director of International Student Services and faculty adviser to ISA, says, “For club members, International Night is a community service where they gain experience in TLC - teamwork, leadership, and cross-cultural communication - which can aid them in meeting their educational, professional, and personal goals.”
“International Night: Home Away from Home” takes place on Friday, March 16, 5-9 pm, at the 糖心视频 Mānoa Campus Center Ballroom. This event is free and open to the public.
